CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Donald Smith

Donald has spent the majority of his career as an Avionics Engineer in the Royal Air Force, specialising in engineering operations control and management. Since leaving the RAF he has completed an MBA, studying ‘Business Angels’ and their investment decision-making process. He has now published his first paper on this topic and presented these findings to the world’s foremost academic conference on Entrepreneurship Research. He is now researching Exit Strategies on Business Angel Investing. Donald is also a Member of the Development Board for the Saltire Foundation, whose objective is to find, fuel, and spark Scotland’s human potential, in turn creating our next generation of business leaders.

 

LEAD PROTEOMIC SCIENTIST

Keiryn L Bennett Ph.D.

Keiryn obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Tasmania and her Ph.D. at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Following a post-doctoral position at the Australian Proteome Analysis Facility in Sydney, she further trained with Professor Peter Roepstorff in Odense, Denmark. Keiryn was then employed at Protana A/S, and MDS Proteomics, also located in Odense. In 2004, Keiryn joined CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine in Vienna, Austria. After 14 years at CeMM, including 9 years as a group leader, she founded her own consultancy company, sciGig. Currently, Keiryn is freelancing for several companies and research groups in Europe, including DC Biosciences. Here, she provides advice to customers in her role as Lead Proteomic Scientist

Jan Hewitt

As a business and IT graduate, Jan spent many years running her own small businesses. Latterly, she worked with a number of small firms in the wedding and events market to increase their online presence. Her focus is now on content marketing for DC Biosciences.

INVESTMENT DIRECTOR

Scott Carnegie

Scott is the Chairman of Discovery Investment Fund Limited has been the driving force behind the original founding of the Discovery Investment Fund in order to create a venture capital base in the Dundee area. A well-known face in the Scottish Financial Sector, over the years he has been involved with several UK companies covering such diverse sectors as technology, property, leisure, and food manufacturing. He is currently a Director at Quest Corporate Ltd, an Edinburgh-based Corporate Finance and Interim Management House where he is responsible for business growth, financing, and structures.
